In the world’s most vibrant metropolitan hubs, from New York and Austin to Singapore and Los Angeles—ground-level real estate comes at an extraordinary premium. Urban planners, private schools, commercial sports operators, and property developers constantly ask the same question: Where can our community play?
The answer is right above our heads.
Underutilized flat roofs, parking deck tops, and terrace levels offer the ultimate canvas for sports infrastructure. However, turning a rooftop into an athletic arena usually triggers an immediate nightmare for building owners, architects, and facility engineers: puncturing the roof waterproofing membrane.
Traditional sports construction requires bolting, drilling, and chemically anchoring heavy posts directly into the concrete deck or substrate. Even the smallest puncture risks catastrophic water intrusion, structural damage, and the immediate voiding of manufacturer roofing warranties.
To solve this challenge, specialized modular engineering is required. SoccerGround is specialized in and capable of delivering completely non-penetrating rooftop mini-pitches.
Using an engineered freestanding framework, our rooftop arenas require no floor anchors, no drilling, and no substrate penetrations. The delicate waterproofing membrane and thermal insulation layers remain entirely untouched, watertight, and preserved under manufacturer warranty.
From private schools to iconic pop-ups and commercial facilities, several projects from our portfolio showcase what is possible when structural innovation meets urban sports:

Perched atop a multi-level downtown parking garage, this SoccerGround Advanced Rooftop Mini-Pitch brought soccer to the Texas skyline. Complete with regulation futsal goals, modular goal inserts, high-rebound perimeter boards, and full overhead containment netting, this installation converted empty garage space into a premier urban soccer destination framed by the Austin skyline.

Faced with tight spatial limitations in New York City, the German School Brooklyn transformed its rooftop into an active elevated sports facility. This custom SoccerGround Mini-Pitch hosts recess, physical education classes, and after-school programs—providing a secure, exhilarating play environment on top of the school building without compromising the roof structure below.

At Queens’ renowned Upper 90 Soccer Center, two side-by-side freestanding SoccerGround Advanced mini-pitches (approx. 65' × 46') sit high above the borough. Featuring full perimeter and overhead netting, these elevated pitches run adult leagues, youth clinics, and high-energy pickup matches year-round—all while keeping the underlying roof membrane 100% intact and leak-free.

When global football giant Paris Saint-Germain launched its exclusive 10-day immersive pop-up on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, the centerpiece of the cultural activation was a custom rooftop Mini-Pitch. The temporary, high-visibility installation highlighted our ability to deploy rapidly and operate cleanly on premium commercial building roofs without leaving a trace.

In high-density Singapore where ground space is scarce, the Civil Service Club made use of their rooftop terrace by installing two large freestanding mini sports arenas (30m × 15m). Outfitted with perimeter walls and overhead netting enclosures, the pitches offer high-performance play while preserving the building's roof membrane.

Proving that rooftop sports arenas can enhance healthcare and community facilities, this custom-built terrace mini-pitch provides outdoor exercise, fresh air, and activity space directly on the building's upper deck.
When proposing a rooftop sports facility to structural engineers, building boards, or insurers, the technical details matter:
An unused roof is lost value. Whether you are an urban private school looking to give students an energetic play area, a commercial club seeking a skyline league venue, or a developer aiming to add an amenity to a new residential or office complex, rooftop pitches offer a practical solution.
